Nursing Operations Manager

About the role

The Nursing Operations Manager will oversee patient flow, staffing, and placement on the 4A Transitional Care Unit and 4M Medical Telemetry Unit at Mercy Hospital. This position ensures safe staffing levels and optimal patient care while supporting the hospital’s mission of excellence.

Key responsibilities

• Identify and facilitate patient flow transactions, including admissions, transfers, and emergency placements, following clinical standards.
• Address staffing needs across the hospital, adjusting assignments to maintain equitable staffing and safe patient care.
• Communicate staffing changes and patient flow updates to relevant leaders.
• Manage the patient experience across the organization to optimize resources and ensure a safe, efficient environment.

Required profile

• Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BSN) from an accredited program.
• Current state licensure as a Registered Nurse (RN).
• Minimum three years of acute‑care experience.
• Basic Life Support (BLS) certification.
• Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS) certification.
• Preferred: 1‑2 years of management experience and a background in acute‑care medical telemetry.

Required skills

• Knowledge of patient assignment and staffing processes.
• Ability to assess unit needs and adjust staffing in real time.
• Proficiency with clinical standards for patient flow.
• Certification in BLS and ACLS.
