About the role

The Non Certified Ophthalmic Assistant works at Cleveland Clinic's Independence Family Health Center, supporting ophthalmology care by preparing patients, performing screening tests, and assisting physicians during examinations and procedures.

Key responsibilities

  • Receive and prepare patients for examination or treatment under supervision.
  • Perform routine screening tests and assist physicians with examinations and procedures.
  • Document patient information in medical records.
  • Handle clerical duties, stock supplies, and maintain equipment.

Required profile

  • High School Diploma or GED.
  • One year of experience in an ophthalmic setting or formal ophthalmology training.
  • Knowledge of medical terminology.
  • Physical ability to lift up to 25 lb, stand or walk for extended periods, and possess good visual acuity.

Required skills

  • Manual dexterity to operate office equipment and PC.
  • Ability to follow standard precautions and use personal protective equipment.
