New Grad RN Resident – Rapid Observation Med Surg

About the role

The New Grad RN Resident will join the Clinical Decision Unit at Fairview Hospital, providing acute care to patients who require extended observation and rapid discharge planning.

Key responsibilities

• Deliver direct nursing care alongside a success coach during night shifts (7:00 pm–7:30 am).
• Establish and revise patient care priorities based on acuity, patient preference, and resource availability.
• Respond to clinical data indicating patient risk, initiating actions to reduce or prevent harm.
• Document all care activities accurately in patients’ medical records.

Required profile

• Graduate from an accredited nursing program (ADN or BSN).
• Current state licensure as a Registered Nurse (RN).
• Basic Life Support (BLS) certification through the American Heart Association.
• New graduate RN or less than one year of RN work experience.
