New Grad RN Resident – Rapid Observation

About the role

The New Grad RN Resident will join the Clinical Decision Unit at Fairview Hospital, providing rapid observation care for patients expected to be discharged or admitted within 18 hours. This night‑shift position offers a supportive environment for recent nursing graduates to develop clinical expertise.

Key responsibilities

• Deliver direct nursing care alongside a success coach, following the residency curriculum.
• Prioritize patient care based on acuity, preferences, and resource availability.
• Monitor patient data, identify risks, and initiate corrective actions.
• Seek supervision or assistance when needed to ensure safe, independent practice.
• Document all care activities accurately in patients’ medical records.

Required profile

• Graduate of an accredited ADN or BSN nursing program.
• Current state licensure as a Registered Nurse (RN).
• Basic Life Support (BLS) certification through the American Heart Association.
• New graduate or less than one year of RN experience.

Required skills
