New Grad RN Resident – Med/Surg & Post‑Op Surgery

About the role

The New Grad RN Resident will join the Parkview III Complex Medical Care unit at Cleveland Clinic Fairview Hospital, providing care for post‑operative patients across a range of surgical specialties. This is a night‑shift position (7:00 pm‑7:30 am) within a one‑year accredited Nurse Residency program.

Key responsibilities

• Deliver direct nursing care to post‑operative patients, collaborating with a multidisciplinary team.
• Participate in the residency core curriculum, including online modules, simulation labs, and hands‑on training.
• Assess patient acuity, prioritize care, document accurately, and respond to clinical risks.
• Seek supervision or assistance when needed to ensure safe, independent practice.

Required profile

• Graduate of an accredited nursing program (Diploma, ADN or BSN).
• Current RN licensure in the state of practice.
• Basic Life Support (BLS) certification; Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS) required for critical‑care areas.
• New graduate or less than one year of acute inpatient RN experience.

Required skills

• Basic Life Support (BLS) certification.
• Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS) certification (if applicable).
