New Grad RN Resident – ICU Stepdown

About the role

The New Grad RN Resident will join the 10M ICU/Stepdown Unit at Mercy Hospital, providing care to high‑acuity pulmonology and cardiac patients under the guidance of a success coach.

Key responsibilities

• Provide direct nursing care alongside a success coach during night shifts.
• Participate in the residency core curriculum tailored to individual learning needs.
• Establish and revise patient care priorities based on acuity, preference, and resources.
• Respond to clinical data indicating patient risk and initiate corrective actions.
• Seek supervision or assistance when unable to perform tasks safely.
• Document all care activities accurately in patients’ medical records.

Required profile

• Graduate of an accredited nursing program (Diploma, ADN, or BSN).
• Current state licensure as a Registered Nurse (RN).
• Basic Life Support (BLS) certification.
• Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS) certification by hire or within the first year.
• New graduate or less than one year of RN experience, or equivalent acute care experience.

Required skills

• BLS certification.
• ACLS certification.
• Proficiency with telemonitoring and hard‑wire monitoring equipment.
• Experience handling ventilators, tracheostomies, and IV drips (non‑titrate).
