New Grad RN Resident – Complex Medical Care Med/Surg

About the role

The 5th Floor Complex Medical Care Med/Surg Unit at Cleveland Clinic Hillcrest Hospital is a 59‑bed unit caring for adult and geriatric patients with medical, neurological and telemetry needs. This position is a one‑year, accredited Nurse Residency program for new graduate registered nurses.

Key responsibilities

• Provide direct nursing care on a day shift (7:00 am–7:30 pm) with rotating weekends and holidays.
• Participate in the residency core curriculum and work alongside a success coach.
• Prioritize patient care based on acuity, patient preference and resource availability.
• Respond to clinical data indicating patient risk and take corrective action.
• Document care accurately in patients’ medical records.

Required profile

• Graduate of an accredited School of Professional Nursing.
• Current state licensure as a Registered Nurse (RN).
• Basic Life Support (BLS) certification.
• New graduate or less than one year of acute direct‑care RN experience.
• Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BSN) preferred.
