About the role

The New Grad RN Resident will join the Heart, Vascular & Thoracic Institute on the Cleveland Clinic Main Campus, working in a 24‑bed cardiovascular telemetry unit (J61). This fast‑paced residency provides hands‑on experience with post‑open heart, surgical and VAD patients, supporting professional growth and clinical advancement.

Key responsibilities

Deliver direct nursing care to patients recovering from CABG, valve surgery, VAD implantation, aneurysm repair and other complex cardiac procedures.
Participate in a residency core curriculum and collaborate with a success coach to develop advanced assessment and critical‑thinking skills.
Document patient care accurately, respond to clinical risks, and engage in patient education, discharge planning and recovery support.

Required profile

Graduate of an accredited nursing program (Diploma, ADN or BSN).
Current state RN licensure and Basic Life Support (BLS) certification.
New graduate RN or less than one year of RN experience.

Required skills

Basic Life Support (BLS) certification.
Valid Registered Nurse (RN) license.
