Music Therapist – Hospice

About the role

The Music Therapist provides clinical therapy services to hospice patients and families, using music to address mental and physical health needs. This field‑based position works within the Greater Cleveland and Akron/Canton areas.

Key responsibilities

• Design, implement and evaluate music therapy interventions for hospitalized patients and families.
• Serve as a clinical and educational resource on music therapy practice.
• Assist with research projects, including protocol development, data collection and manuscript preparation.
• Support the Music Therapy Department in program development and evaluation.
• Coordinate therapy observation experiences and produce related reports.

Required profile

• Bachelor's degree from an AMTA‑accredited program.
• Licensed Professional Music Therapist (LPMT) and MT‑BC certification.
• At least one year of music therapy experience (including practicum/internship).
• Basic Life Support (BLS) certification within 90 days of hire.

Required skills

• Music Therapy clinical expertise.
• Ability to assess biopsychosocial needs.
• Research and documentation skills.
• Physical ability to stand, walk and use hands for the majority of the shift.
