MUSiC Test Engineer I – Semiconductor Test Specialist

About the role

The Test Engineer I will develop, qualify, implement, and sustain wafer‑level and device‑level electrical test and characterization methods for the National Multi‑User Silicon Carbide (MUSiC) Research and Fabrication Facility. The role supports research, customer‑sponsored projects, prototype fabrication, product qualification, and low‑volume semiconductor manufacturing.

Key responsibilities

• Develop and maintain wafer‑level and device‑level test methods, define test conditions and acceptance criteria.
• Support test‑equipment selection, qualification, and data analysis to identify trends, anomalies, and failure mechanisms.
• Collaborate with product engineering, process integration, quality, and customer teams to correlate test results with fabrication history.
• Provide technical guidance and mentorship to junior engineers, technicians, interns, and student researchers.

Required profile

• Associate’s degree in a technical field with at least five years of semiconductor test experience.
• Minimum seven years analyzing semiconductor test data and identifying performance trends or failure signatures.
• Experience supporting product qualification, reliability evaluation, and failure analysis.
• U.S. citizenship required for access to controlled facilities.

Required skills

• Wafer‑level and package electrical testing.
• Use of wafer probers, probe stations, parameter analyzers, source‑measure units, and curve tracers.
• Statistical process control, design of experiments, FMEA, root‑cause analysis, GRR.
• Test equipment qualification and validation.
