Mobile Equipment Operator – Roadway Striping

About the role

The Louisiana Department of Transportation and Development is seeking Mobile Equipment Operators to maintain roadway pavement markings across seven parishes in District 08. The role involves operating striping vehicles and heavy equipment, performing minor repairs, and ensuring safe, efficient operation in all weather conditions.

Key responsibilities

• Operate striping vehicles, heavy equipment, and pavement‑marking tools as required by project conditions.
• Conduct pre‑operation safety inspections and report any issues.
• Perform minor equipment maintenance, cleaning, and repairs following manufacturer guidelines.
• Assist with emergency or disaster support activities when needed.
• Prepare roadway surfaces, install raised pavement markers, place traffic control devices, and flag traffic.
• Complete light computer tasks related to equipment logs and reporting.

Required profile

• Self‑motivated individual able to work with minimal supervision.
• Willingness to work outdoors in varying weather and terrain.
• Ability to adapt to changing conditions and follow DOTD policies and civil service regulations.
• Valid Class A commercial driver’s license (required for Mobile Equipment Operator 2 & Heavy 1).
