Mental Health Counselor – Outpatient (W-2 or 1099)

About the role

The Mental Health Counselor provides on‑site, person‑centered counseling services within a substance‑use disorder day treatment program. Services are delivered Monday‑Friday, 10:00 AM‑3:00 PM, and may include individual, group, and family sessions as scheduled.

Key responsibilities

• Conduct individual, family, and group counseling, diagnostic evaluations, and treatment planning for assigned clients.
• Document all sessions, assessments, and treatment plans in the ICANotes electronic health record system, adhering to CARF, Medicaid, and COMAR standards.
• Provide make‑up sessions, crisis intervention, and safety planning as needed.
• Coordinate care with program staff, external providers, and community resources while maintaining compliance with regulatory and ethical guidelines.

Required profile

• Licensed Mental Health Counselor qualified to practice in the state.
• Credentialed to deliver mental‑health services on‑site and able to meet the scheduling requirements of the day‑treatment program.

Required skills

• Proficiency with ICANotes electronic health record software.
• Experience using electronic health record systems for clinical documentation and billing.
