MedSurg LPN - Day Shift

About the role

A hospital in Baxley is hiring a full-time Licensed Practical Nurse (LPN) for its medical surgical unit, working the day shift (7a-7p) under the direct supervision of the Nurse Manager. The LPN assists in the daily care of patients by assessing their needs and helping deliver the treatment plan.

Key responsibilities

• Collaborate with the RN to create the plan of care and participate in treatment team meetings and utilization review meetings.
• Assess patients at the start of each shift and when conditions change, document assessments, and perform patient rounds every 2 hours.
• Take vital signs, collect or assist with specimen collection, and chart medications and patient information.
• Give medications, including IV piggyback and IV push, and perform routine injections under supervision.
• Start IVs, insert foley catheters, nasogastric and rectal tubes, and apply or discontinue telemetry monitors per physician order.
• Provide wound care and activities of daily living care, and give discharge information to patients and families.
• Complete unit safety checks, co-sign orders within 2 hours, process stat orders within 15 minutes, and enter patient charges each shift.
• Order supplies, assist with insurance and patient assistance forms, and help with admissions, referrals and discharges.
• Act as a preceptor for nursing students and orient new hires, take call rotations, and keep the workstation clean.

Required profile

• Current LPN license in the State of Georgia.
• Previous LPN experience preferred but not required.
• Ability to read and communicate effectively in English; additional languages preferred.

Required skills

• BLS certification (must be obtained within 90 days of hire).
• ACLS certification (within 6 months of hire).
• PALS certification (within 6 months of hire).
