Medical Technologist

About the role

The Medical Technologist will perform and interpret laboratory tests of all complexity levels at Cleveland Clinic Hillcrest Hospital, a Magnet‑recognized facility. This full‑time, dayshift position works 6:00 am–2:30 pm with occasional weekend and holiday rotation.

Key responsibilities

• Follow laboratory procedures for specimen handling, processing, analysis, reporting, and record‑keeping.
• Maintain regulatory knowledge, quality‑control policies, instrument calibrations, and equipment maintenance.
• Document quality‑control activities, address any issues, and notify supervisors as needed.
• Perform proficiency testing in compliance with CLIA regulations and retain accurate records.
• Participate in continuing education, professional development, and annual competency assessments.
• Provide instruction and training to students, employees, and residents on laboratory theory, techniques, and safety protocols.

Required profile

• Bachelor’s degree in a chemical or biological science or equivalent CLIA qualification for high‑complexity testing.
• Verification of degree within three months of hire.
• Previous laboratory experience preferred.
• Certification as a Medical Technologist (MT) or eligibility for certification (ASCP or AMT) preferred.
