Medical-Surgical LPN - Night Shift

About the role

A full-time night-shift Medical-Surgical Licensed Practical Nurse position in Baxley. The nurse assesses patients at the start of each shift and whenever their condition changes, documents assessments, reports significant changes to the RN and follows unit-based, age-appropriate guidelines.

Key responsibilities

• Assess patients at the beginning of each shift and as their condition changes, document assessments and report significant deviations to the RN in a timely way
• Provide useful information and recommendations to the RN for the patient care plan, and report changes in patient status so they can be incorporated into the plan of care
• Give patients and families accurate discharge information and check their understanding
• Make patient rounds every two hours
• Administer medications according to hospital policy and procedure, and document nursing care accordingly
• Report patient conditions at the start and end of each shift; document interventions, patient responses, treatment effectiveness, follow-up care and reassessment, including crises before, during and after
• Assist in other hospital areas such as X-ray, lab, ER, ICU and OR
• Maintain confidentiality in line with Protected Health Information (PHI)

Required profile

• Current Georgia state LPN license and Licensed Practical Nurse certificate
• Current CPR certification
• High school diploma
• 20 hours of continuing education every two years with a board-approved provider to maintain the license
• Prior medical field experience preferred but not required
• Ability to sit and stand for long periods, lift up to 100 lbs, bend and stoop, and work under stress and frequent interruptions

The work takes place in a climate-controlled hospital setting with office machines, telephones, VS machines, suction and oxygen equipment, PCA and IV pumps, telemetry, scales, computers and medication carts.
