Medical Lab Technician

About the role

Phelps Health, a 2,000‑employee hospital in small‑town Missouri, is seeking a Medical Laboratory Technician to perform clinical testing across multiple disciplines while adhering to accrediting agency regulations.

Key responsibilities

• Perform accurate, timely routine testing in areas such as hematology, immunology, microbiology, clinical microscopy, chemistry, coagulation and blood banking.
• Review and document quality control results, investigate failures and implement corrective actions.
• Prioritize workload, communicate pending work to the next shift and ensure critical results are promptly reported to providers.
• Assist in training new staff, update procedure manuals and perform pre‑analytical, analytical and post‑analytical assessments.

Required profile

• Associate degree in Medical Technology or a related science.
• Certification or eligibility as a medical laboratory technician (ASCP, ISCLT, HHS, AMT, NCA or equivalent).
• Ability to work under stressful conditions, maintain visual attention and lift up to 20 lb.
