Medical Assistant – Nephrology

About the role

The Medical Assistant will join the Nephrology team at Cleveland Clinic Martin North Hospital, providing support to patients, families and providers in a collaborative, patient‑focused environment. The role includes both clinical and administrative duties and may involve floating to Tradition and Tiffany hospitals as needed.

Key responsibilities

• Assist with patient screening, specimen collection, medication management and documentation of care.
• Update health maintenance information, identify medication changes and record allergy updates at each visit.
• Monitor patient condition, communicate changes to providers, and administer specific medications under direction.
• Maintain examination areas, equipment and medical supplies, including ordering, stocking and troubleshooting.
• Perform clerical tasks such as filing, reception, scheduling, data entry and patient registration.

Required profile

• Graduate of an accredited Medical Assisting program or equivalent military medical training.
• Current clinical proficiency with completion of a clinical externship or extensive clinical experience.
• Basic Life Support (BLS) certification required within the new‑hire period.
• Ability to work Monday‑Friday, 8:00 AM – 4:30 PM, primarily at Martin North with occasional floating to other sites.

Required skills

• Medical assisting techniques including specimen collection and medication administration.
• Use of electronic health record systems for updating patient information.
• Basic life support and adherence to standard precautions and personal protective equipment.
