Mechatronics Engineer – Lab & Automation Systems

About the role

Ohalo is looking for a hands‑on Mechatronics Engineer to design, integrate, and deploy automation systems for greenhouse and laboratory environments. You will work closely with scientists, automation engineers, and operators to build reliable, high‑throughput solutions for plant genomics and greenhouse operations.

Key responsibilities

• Design, assemble, and integrate mechanical and mechatronic subsystems for lab and greenhouse automation.
• Support deployment, tuning, and maintenance of robotic systems, actuators, and motion platforms.
• Integrate and validate sensors such as force, position, imaging, and environmental sensors.
• Commission and troubleshoot systems in field and production settings.
• Collaborate with biology, hardware, and software teams to align designs with scientific workflows.
• Identify failure modes and implement design improvements for reliability.
• Create and maintain mechanical drawings, BOMs, assembly instructions, and test procedures.

Required profile

• 5+ years of experience in mechanical engineering, mechatronics, robotics, or related fields.
• Hands‑on experience assembling and troubleshooting mechanical systems.
• Familiarity with automation components such as motors, actuators, linear motion systems, and sensors.
• Comfort working in experimental environments with evolving requirements.
• Strong cross‑disciplinary communication skills.
