About the role
The Materials Test Operator will support the mechanical testing and characterization laboratory within the Materials Department, contributing to the development of fusion energy components and high‑temperature superconducting magnets.
Key responsibilities
- Prepare test specimens and conduct laboratory experiments.
- Operate universal testing machines (Instron) and related equipment for tensile, compression, flexural, shear, peel, and fatigue tests.
- Perform metallographic specimen polishing, preparation, and microscopy analysis.
- Manage data acquisition, documentation, and reporting of test results.
- Execute Jira tickets and QBench orders following standard operating procedures.
- Support inventory management of consumables and spare parts.
- Perform routine equipment maintenance and calibration.
- Communicate test results and status updates to internal stakeholders.

- Ability to work independently under guidance of a materials test engineer.
- Effective communication with internal stakeholders.
