Senior Technical Project Manager

About the role

Commonwealth Fusion Systems is seeking a Senior Technical Project Manager to lead complex engineering projects for SPARC, its compact fusion machine. The role sits in the Program Management Office and is responsible for planning, executing and delivering highly engineered process systems on time and within budget.

Key responsibilities

• Drive SPARC projects from concept through final design, procurement and construction.
• Develop comprehensive project plans covering scope, schedule, resources and risk.
• Coordinate cross‑functional teams of engineers, scientists, designers and analysts.
• Establish milestones, monitor progress and report status to stakeholders.
• Manage cost, schedule and risk‑based decisions throughout the project lifecycle.
• Resolve schedule conflicts and implement mitigation strategies.
• Facilitate communication between the PMO, system leads and other project teams.
• Lead process‑improvement initiatives and promote a high‑performance team culture.

Required profile

• Proven experience managing large‑scale, technically complex engineering projects.
• Strong ability to work with multidisciplinary teams in a matrix environment.
• Excellent analytical and problem‑solving skills with a focus on risk management.
• Demonstrated track record of delivering projects on time and within budget.
• Effective communication skills for stakeholder reporting and collaboration.
