Lead Production Technician (First Shift)

About the role
The Lead Production Technician at Commonwealth Fusion Systems leads a fast‑paced, agile team building the world’s strongest high‑temperature superconducting magnets and assemblies for integration into CFS fusion devices. The role continuously improves production tasks, maintains schedules with proper resourcing, and ensures quality requirements are met per documentation.
Key responsibilities
- Hire, lead, and train a team of technicians and welders to build electromechanical parts and assemblies with focus on quality, cost and delivery.
- Collaborate with manufacturing engineers and technicians to develop and qualify new manufacturing techniques and processes.
- Perform production hardware builds according to procedures, specifications and test instructions.
- Troubleshoot and resolve manufacturing discrepancies, driving continuous improvement.
- Use precision tools such as torque wrenches, micrometers, calipers and a variety of hand and power tools.
- Ensure safety and cleanliness standards are followed by all technicians.
Required profile
- High school diploma/equivalency or higher.
- At least 2 years of formal leadership experience in a manufacturing setting.
- Minimum 6 years of experience with mechanical/electrical assembly, plumbing, vacuum systems, epoxy potting, injection molding, cryogenic systems, soldering and wiring.
- Strong commitment to safety and quality and ability to communicate this to the team.
- Accountable, able to give clear direction and work independently.
- Willingness to thrive in a fast‑changing, high‑pace environment.
