About the role

Hy-Vee is hiring a Market Grille Cook in its Market Grille department in Faribault. The cook prepares fresh, hot and cold menu items from prep to plate, keeps the food case stocked and makes sure every order is prepared with care. The role suits someone who enjoys a fast-paced kitchen environment and takes pride in quality food.

Key responsibilities

• Provide prompt, friendly customer service, greeting customers by name
• Prepare cooking surfaces and menu items including vegetables, sides, meats, breakfast foods and heat-and-eat varieties
• Place food in hot cases, monitor amounts and refill as needed during the shift
• Know the menu well, take guest orders and prepare items for upcoming shifts
• Maintain a clean, organized work area following proper sanitation procedures
• Order product and supplies or notify managers of needs, and work as a team
• Assist in other parts of the store, take on special projects and follow dress standards and store policies
• Report to work on schedule and on time

Required profile

• High school diploma or equivalent experience
• Six months or less of similar or related work experience; training is provided
• Ability to safely use sharp knives and blades, handle heat and burn hazards, and operate a delivery vehicle to DOT standards
• Physical demands include frequent standing and walking, repetitive reaching and bending, and exposure to cleaning chemicals and solvents
• Must pass a pre-employment drug screen

The anticipated starting hourly wage is $15.00 to $18.75 depending on experience. Employment is contingent on passing a pre-employment drug screen.
