Hotel Engineer II

About the role

The Ritz-Carlton in Palm Beach is hiring an Engineer II to handle guest repair requests and maintenance issues with little to no supervision. The engineer also performs preventive maintenance, troubleshoots MEP systems and trains and mentors other engineers.

Key responsibilities

• Respond to guest repair requests and resolve maintenance issues with guests and customers
• Perform preventive maintenance on tools and equipment, including cleaning and lubrication, and visually inspect them
• Carry equipment, identify and operate shut-off valves, and maintain maintenance inventory
• Troubleshoot and repair pumps, motors, plumbing fixtures, electrical items and guestroom equipment, and program TVs
• Assist with surface preparation and painting, minor drywall and trim repair, and clean up work areas
• Use the Lockout/Tagout system and follow safety and security policies
• Train and mentor other engineers, and perform Engineer on Duty rounds

Required profile

• High school diploma or G.E.D. equivalent and vocational or technical background
• At least 2 years of hotel engineering/maintenance experience
• Experience in general maintenance, surface preparation and painting preferred
• Valid driver's license
• No supervisory experience required

Required skills

• CFC certification and compliance with state and federal certification/licensing requirements
• Above-average skills in at least two of: air conditioning and refrigeration, electrical, mechanical, plumbing, pneumatic/electronic systems, carpentry, kitchen equipment, vehicles, energy conservation and building management
• Basic ability to repair or replace PVC and copper pipe (including soldering)
• Working knowledge of engineering computer programs for preventative maintenance and energy management
