Market Grille Department Manager

About the role

Hy-Vee is looking for a Market Grille Department Manager in Faribault. The manager leads one of the store's most dynamic departments, sets the standard for customer service, team performance, food quality and profitability, manages day-to-day operations and works closely with store leadership. The role is hourly and reports to the Store Director, Store Manager and Assistant Managers, and has direct reports who are department employees.

Key responsibilities

• Set and uphold department standards for customer service, employee relations, cleanliness, sanitation, appearance and profitability
• Greet customers warmly, learn their names and create a welcoming atmosphere
• Recruit, hire, train, supervise, discipline and evaluate employees; approve discipline and recommend transfers, discharge and salary increases
• Determine department goals with the Store Director, set weekly schedules and daily work plans
• Inspect signage and displays, order product for replenishment, figure retail pricing, post invoices and oversee bookkeeping
• Analyze sales trends, compare to actuals, prepare ad projections and write ads
• Plan displays, promotions and pre-orders, run department inventory and maintain proper temperatures and storage to control shrink
• Troubleshoot equipment and ensure maintenance is done
• Work with Restaurant and Service staff, unload trucks, check in deliveries and place product in storage
• Keep prices competitive, attend meetings and continuing education, and follow Hy-Vee policies and dress standards

Required profile

• High school diploma or equivalent; sanitation coursework helpful
• Over one year of related work experience
• Able to stand and walk frequently during a shift, handle heat and burn hazards from cooking equipment, and operate a delivery vehicle to DOT standards
• Ability to use sharp knives and blades safely for food preparation

The anticipated hourly starting wage is $18.00 to $22.50 depending on experience. Employment is contingent on passing a pre-employment drug screen.
