About the role

The Vertex – Market Access Trade & Distribution Strategy Postdoctoral Research Fellow is a two‑year experiential fellowship based in Boston, MA, focused on US market access, trade, and distribution strategy for a broad portfolio of biopharmaceutical products.

Key responsibilities

• Support launch readiness and post‑approval pull‑through activities across multiple disease areas such as Type 1 Diabetes, Neuropathic Pain, and Cystic Fibrosis.
• Design and execute go‑to‑market and lifecycle trade and distribution strategies, including channel planning, patient journey mapping, and stakeholder engagement with specialty pharmacies, distributors, and wholesalers.
• Collaborate with cross‑functional partners including marketing, legal, finance, supply chain, and brand marketing to align trade strategy with access objectives.
• Gain exposure to trade and distribution channel management, distribution agreements, and fee‑for‑service contracting.

Required profile

• Doctor of Pharmacy degree from an ACPE‑accredited institution and eligibility for pharmacist licensure in Massachusetts.
• Excellent oral and written communication skills with strong time‑management and leadership abilities.
• Demonstrated interest in market access, trade, distribution, or the business side of pharma through coursework, rotations, internships, or extracurricular activities.
• Familiarity with the US healthcare system, pharmaceutical procurement processes, and the evolving reimbursement and payer landscape.
• Ability to manage multiple strategic projects with attention to detail and work independently.
