Manufacturing Equipment Maintenance Technician

About the role

This on-site position in the Facilities department is responsible for the care, maintenance and repair of plant utility equipment and systems in a cGMP manufacturing environment for dietary supplements and cosmetics. It covers preventive and corrective maintenance of process equipment and critical utility systems.

Key responsibilities

• Repair malfunctioning equipment: diagnose failures, troubleshoot analytically, tear down, repair and restore operation with minimal disruption.
• Carry out preventative maintenance as defined in SOPs, and coordinate and monitor the work done by external contractors while giving input on refining its type and frequency.
• Support and troubleshoot packaging and filling lines, including line speeds, product changeovers and operating errors.
• Install, debug and evaluate new equipment.
• Maintain record-keeping systems and repair histories.
• Train machine operators on proper use and safety of plant equipment.
• Liaise with vendors for onsite service, repairs and warranty claims, and supervise and inspect their work.
• Perform other building maintenance as required, such as furniture moves and basic electrical, plumbing and mechanical repairs.
• Enforce all safety procedures and policies.

Required profile

• High school education.
• At least 3 years of experience in a related field.
• Some vocational mechanical and/or electrical training.
• Preferred: 2-3 years in a cGMP facility doing equipment and building maintenance, and previous recording or documentation in an FDA-regulated environment.
• Able to lift 50+ pounds, work in tight confined spaces, use hand tools with dexterity, and wear respirators and safety harnesses.

Required skills

• Attention to detail, critical thinking and strong analytical ability.
• Good written and oral communication.
• Preferred: reading equipment schematics for diagnosis and repair, and working with integral electronics systems of manufacturing equipment.
