Manufacturing Engineer

About the role

PI (Physik Instrumente), LP, a manufacturer of high-precision positioning systems, is hiring a Manufacturing Engineer for its Shrewsbury, MA location. The role supports manufacturing operations and focuses on efficient, repeatable production of high-precision motion systems, combining high-volume serial production with low-volume, complex machines. It is a full-time, Monday-to-Friday position.

Key responsibilities

• Develop and optimize manufacturing processes for motion devices and systems.
• Work closely with assembly teams to ensure products are built correctly and on schedule, giving technical guidance and resolving production issues in real time.
• Help diagnose and repair customer-returned products.
• Develop, document and implement production procedures and tooling for moving products into series production.
• Use 3D modeling software and the company's PLM system for designing, documenting and controlling revisions of fixturing.
• Maintain production records showing traceability to requirements.
• Support the warehouse and planning groups in maintaining and optimizing inventory.
• Keep production areas organized using 5S and Lean Management principles.

Required profile

• B.S. in Manufacturing Engineering, Engineering Technology, Industrial Engineering, Mechanical Engineering or a related field.
• 2+ years of relative experience.
• Ability to lift 10-30 pounds regularly and 30-60 pounds occasionally, and to sit and stand for long periods.
• Strong work ethic, organizational skills, teamwork and attention to detail.

Required skills

• Proficiency in technical writing.
• Demonstrated CAD/3D modeling experience (SolidWorks preferred).
• Preferred: basic metrology tools (calipers, test indicators, micrometers), machining or metal fabricating experience.

The pay range is $75,000 - $95,000 per year, depending on skills, experience and education. Work authorization or sponsorship is not provided.
