Electromechanical Wiring Technician

About the role

PI (Physik Instrumente), LP, a manufacturer of precision motion and automation systems, has an immediate opening for an Electromechanical Wiring Technician in its electrical assembly department in Shrewsbury, MA. The position is full-time, Monday to Friday, 7am to 3:30pm, and starts as a temp-to-perm arrangement: successful performance and attendance during the first 90 days leads to a permanent position.

Key responsibilities

• Solder and crimp small-gauge wires
• Assemble cables, wiring harnesses, electrical sub-panels and cabinets
• Test electrical assemblies and troubleshoot defects
• Report failures and defects through company quality processes
• Work in a team to meet quality, safety and productivity goals
• Work overtime when needed to meet the production schedule
• Follow 5S and lean manufacturing principles in an ISO 9001 environment

Required profile

• High school diploma or equivalent; associate degree or technical certificate in a related field preferred
• At least 2 years of experience in a related field
• US citizen or Green Card holder; proof of permanent ability to live and work in the US is required (no sponsorship offered)
• Able to sit or stand for long periods

Required skills

• Reading schematics and technical drawings
• Hand crimp tools for cables and harnesses
• Familiarity with IPC/WHMA-A-620 cable and wiring harness standards (endorsement preferred)
• Familiarity with D-subminiature connectors and machine and cabinet wiring
• Soldering experience (J-STD-001 endorsement preferred); able to handle wire sizes from 10 to 36 AWG

The pay range is $25-$35 per hour, depending on skills, experience and education. Employment depends on the result of a background check.
