Manager III, Buyer

About the role

Applied Materials, a global leader in materials science and engineering solutions for semiconductors and advanced displays, is hiring a Manager III, Buyer for its Heredia office in Costa Rica. The position is full-time, 100% onsite, and involves coordinating purchasing activities with engineering and manufacturing departments to keep inventories at planned levels.

Key responsibilities

• Direct the activities of buyers and expediters to accomplish company objectives.
• Evaluate vendor reliability and oversee vendor surveys to maintain adequate working relationships.
• Review and approve purchases up to a specified dollar amount.
• Develop policies and procedures for procurement operations.
• Monitor the cost, schedule and performance of major subcontracts.
• Coordinate purchasing with engineering and manufacturing to maintain inventory levels.

Required profile

• Ability to direct employees according to established policies and management guidance.
• Management expertise: receives assignments as objectives with goals, recommends policy changes, and has work reviewed against those objectives.
• Problem solving: exercises judgment within defined procedures and policies.
• Interpersonal skills: gains cooperation of others and presents technical information on projects and schedules.
• Understanding of Applied Materials' global Standards of Business Conduct and compliance with them.
