Supply Chain Buyer Intern 2027 (Bachelor's Degree)

About the role

Applied Materials' Global Supply Chain department is looking for interns to join its team in 2027, working within the Procurement/Purchasing group. Procurement agents ensure timely delivery of materials to the company's factories while meeting cost and quality targets. The internship is full-time, based in Costa Rica, and applications are reviewed on a rolling basis until November 30, 2026.

Key responsibilities

• Complete supplier requests for quotations (RFQs)
• Work with suppliers on obsolescence compliance and training
• Prepare supplier profiles for management presentations
• Perform part analytics to assign parts to the correct commodity family
• Interact with suppliers on cost reduction opportunities
• Support Supplier Account Managers with meetings, presentations, quarterly business reviews and supplier capacity reviews
• Perform buyer functions such as creating, rescheduling and cancelling purchase orders per MRP, calling suppliers for material status and expediting material
• Resolve accounts payable issues related to PO invoices and receipts, find emergency sources for material and update factory stakeholders on deliveries
• Negotiate with suppliers to mitigate excess POs and inventory
• Run MRP and spend analytics and build automated tools for KPI follow-up and compliance

Required profile

• Pursuing a Bachelor's degree in Supply Chain Management or a related major
• Good academic standing, with a preferred GPA of 3.0 or above on a 4.0 scale
• Creative and analytical problem solving, commitment to quality and customer satisfaction
• Excellent listening, writing, quantitative, qualitative and oral communication skills
• Desire for continuous learning and a flexible, adaptable mindset in a results-driven culture
