Maintenance Worker

About the role

Join Fort Worth Water's 24/7 Field Operations Division as a Maintenance Worker, responsible for repairing, maintaining, and constructing water and wastewater infrastructure across the city.

Key responsibilities

• Operate hand and power tools to construct and repair water/wastewater mains, manholes, vaults, valves, fire hydrants, and meters.
• Operate valves to isolate leaks, repair breaks in distribution or collection systems, and assist with wastewater collection equipment.
• Operate light and medium equipment such as trucks, tractors, jackhammers, and cement mixers for maintenance and construction tasks.

Required profile

• High school diploma or GED.
• Valid Texas driver’s license.
• Ability to obtain a TCEQ Class I Wastewater Collection or Water Class D license within one year.
• Flexibility to work overtime, nights, weekends, holidays, and participate in on‑call rotation.
• Pass physical examination, drug screening, background check, and lift up to 100 lb.

Required skills

• Use of hand tools (shovels, rakes, pick‑axes) and power tools.
• Operation of valves on water lines.
• Operation of trucks, tractors, jackhammers, cement mixers.
