Maintenance Shift Supervisor

About the role

The Maintenance Shift Supervisor supports safe, reliable, and efficient plant operations by minimizing equipment downtime through preventive maintenance, troubleshooting, and repairs. This role leads maintenance personnel, coordinates daily activities, and ensures operational excellence across the facility.

Key responsibilities

• Lead and support maintenance personnel in daily repair and maintenance activities, assigning projects and providing hands‑on technical support.
• Execute preventive maintenance programs for cranes, motors, machinery and related equipment.
• Troubleshoot and resolve mechanical, hydraulic, pneumatic, electrical, and automation issues.
• Maintain maintenance records, downtime logs, work request logs and equipment master plans.
• Support employee development, hiring, disciplinary actions, attendance management and evaluations.
• Ensure contractors comply with Gerdau policies and safety standards.

Required profile

• High School Diploma or GED required; additional education such as an Associate's or Bachelor's in Management, Mechanical Engineering or related field preferred.
• Three years of supervisory and maintenance experience in a manufacturing environment preferred.
• Demonstrated leadership ability to train, mentor and develop employees.
• Availability to work a swing‑shift schedule.

Required skills

• Knowledge of industrial hydraulics, mechanical systems, rotating equipment and water systems.
• Experience with PLCs, HMIs and industrial automation.
• Proficiency with Microsoft Office, AutoCAD, SAP and PLEX.
