Maintenance Mechanic / Shopkeeper

About the role

The Central Arkansas Library System is looking for a full‑time Maintenance Mechanic/Shopkeeper to handle preventative maintenance and minor repairs on a fleet of 12 vehicles, as well as manage shop inventory and supplies.

Key responsibilities

• Perform preventative maintenance and minor repairs on vans, box trucks and other fleet vehicles.
• Operate vehicle lift and tire‑mount/balance equipment; drive forklifts when needed.
• Maintain organized inventory of parts, floor and ceiling tiles, housekeeping supplies, and receive/unload deliveries.
• Travel to branch libraries for additional maintenance tasks and occasional pressure‑washing.
• Lift, push, pull, squat and lift up to 50 lb as required.

Required profile

• Valid Arkansas driver’s license with a good driving record.
• Ability to perform physical tasks such as lifting 50 lb and squatting.

Required skills

• Experience with vehicle lift and tire‑mount/balance equipment.
• Forklift driving experience (preferred).
