Maintenance Mechanic

About the role

Kraft Heinz is hiring a full-time Maintenance Mechanic in Muscatine, Iowa. The role keeps the production line running by maintaining and troubleshooting equipment, supporting quality and safety documentation, and coordinating with production leadership to minimize downtime.

Key responsibilities

• Set up, start up, adjust and operate equipment, and shut it down and change over according to company standards to minimize downtime (excluding sterilization, CIP and process start-up)
• Support quality and safety documentation and paperwork for department operations
• Troubleshoot equipment performance issues, maintain and improve the integrity of focus line equipment, and complete scheduled work orders
• Coordinate with Maintenance and Production Leadership on maintenance activities needed to keep line efficiency and product quality high
• Perform preventive maintenance inspections and corrective work orders during maintenance windows to prevent mechanical and electrical breakdowns
• Take part in developing a 52-week maintenance plan in the SAP PM structure and use the Breakdown Management process to prevent recurring failures
• Use SAP to create, perform and confirm work orders, and recommend continuous improvement on equipment and system design
• Support project planning and execution, and coordinate with other line technicians on other shifts
• Train other associates in the area of responsibility and support department ideas and suggestions
• Follow GMP, Lock Out/Tag Out, HACCP, Quality Standards, Fall Protection, Hot Work, OSHA and other policies, and report unsafe acts and conditions
• Maintain equipment and a sanitary environment during production and maintenance, and report to Production/Maintenance management

Required profile

• Experience as a Mechanic, comparable experience, or demonstrated technical ability (internal screening may be used to assess skills)
• Able to train oneself and others on mechanical skills, repairs and overhauls, maintenance systems, computer skills and preventive/predictive maintenance
• Ability to coach team members on basic tasks professionally
