Machine Shop Supervisor (CNC)

About the role

M&H Valve, part of McWane, Inc., manufactures water and wastewater materials such as fire hydrants, wedge gate valves, butterfly valves and check valves. It is looking for a Machine Shop Supervisor in Anniston to supervise and coordinate a team of operators who run CNC and conventional machines to shape metal parts by removing excess material.

Key responsibilities

• Ensure personal and team safety, promote the McWane Way principles and communicate safety standards clearly
• Oversee day-to-day shop operations, plan production schedules and estimate worker hours
• Set up machines and equipment, interpret blueprints and job orders, and assign work
• Estimate, requisition and inspect materials, maintain time and production records, and confirm cycle counts for accurate inventory
• Report machine malfunctions to maintenance and keep stocking plans for finished and rough parts
• Directly supervise employees, assist with hiring and training, conduct performance reviews, coach staff and resolve complaints

Required profile

• Bachelor's degree in a technical field preferred; high school diploma/GED required
• Proficiency in CNC operations required
• Intermediate proficiency in Microsoft Excel preferred
• Leadership experience preferred
• At least 18 years of age

Required skills

• CNC machine operation
• Reading and interpreting safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions and procedure manuals
• Writing routine reports and speaking effectively to groups
• Basic math and reasoning, and interpretation of technical diagrams
• Familiarity with database, design, spreadsheet and word processing software

The work involves frequent standing, walking and lifting up to 50 pounds, and regular exposure to temperature extremes, humidity, moving machinery, dust, fumes and noise. All new hires must pass a drug screen, physical and background check.
