Litigation Consultant - Commercial Bodily Injury

About the role

Sedgwick is hiring a Litigation Consultant for its Commercial Bodily Injury line in Sun Prairie. The role handles high-end cases involving serious injuries and complex coverage scenarios, develops a strategy to resolve them and keeps clients informed.

Key responsibilities

• Review reports and forms, respond to inquiries and seek legal opinions and early resolution
• Handle high-end cases, respond to decisions, agreements and court orders, create action plans and determine the need for examinations
• Gather and document additional information, coordinate with client designees and identify settlement and redemptions opportunities
• Request and coordinate private investigations and local counsel, monitor their performance and respond to requests from plaintiffs' counsel, unions, employees or clients
• Identify issues, formulate a defense strategy and establish or adjust accrued liability and approve administrative expenses
• Identify subrogation opportunities, attend mediations, trials, arbitrations or hearings and work with partners on early return-to-work
• Support the organization's quality programs and perform other duties as assigned

Required profile

• Five years of claims management experience, or an equivalent combination of education and experience, including in-depth knowledge of personal and commercial line auto policies, coverage, principles and laws
• Bachelor's degree from an accredited college or university preferred
• Professional certification for the line of business preferred
• State adjusting license maintained as required for the position

Required skills

• Familiarity with legal pleadings and discovery
• Excellent oral and written communication and presentation skills
• PC literacy, including Microsoft Office products
• Analytical, interpretive and organizational skills, and strong negotiation skills
• Ability to work in a team and meet deadlines
