About the role

deciBel Research is seeking a Linux System Administrator to support the Ground Missile Defense (GMD) Ground Weapon System program in Huntsville, AL. The role ensures reliable operation of multi‑user Linux environments and collaborates closely with network teams.

Key responsibilities

• Configure and maintain administrator and service accounts on RedHat Enterprise Linux servers.
• Document system configurations, tune performance, and allocate mass storage.
• Install and update system‑wide software, manage firmware upgrades, and oversee backup and recovery processes.
• Evaluate vendor products, recommend hardware/software purchases, and coordinate installations.
• Develop and enforce policies and standards for computing resource allocation.

Required profile

• Bachelor’s degree in a STEM discipline.
• Minimum 2 years of Linux systems administration experience (RHEL).
• DOD 8570 IAT Level II certification (e.g., Security+ CE).
• Active Secret security clearance and U.S. citizenship.

Required skills

• RedHat Enterprise Linux (RHEL) administration.
• Scripting with Python, Perl, Bash, PowerShell.
• Linux certifications (Linux+, RHCSA, RHCE) – preferred.
• DevOps tools: Kubernetes, Nexus, Docker, GitLab.
• Security compliance tools such as ACAS.
• Enterprise backup/restore, SAN, NAS management.
• Network administration and hardware installation/maintenance.
