Line Cook – Full‑Time Year‑Round

About the role

The Sonnenalp of Vail Foundation is seeking full‑time, year‑round Line Cooks to join its kitchen team in Vail, CO. You will work on an assigned station, preparing a variety of meats, vegetables and seafood according to menu specifications while maintaining high standards of quality and safety.

Key responsibilities

• Prepare and present hot and cold food items, including special guest requests, following established recipes.
• Monitor and rotate inventory in walk‑ins and freezers to minimize waste.
• Maintain sanitation standards, clean workstations, and follow safety procedures.
• Perform opening and closing duties, track food quality, and report waste.
• Communicate effectively with front‑of‑house staff and keep the Sous Chef informed of any concerns.

Required profile

• High school diploma or equivalent; culinary degree preferred.
• Prior kitchen experience preferred.
• Ability to stand, walk, stoop, kneel and lift up to 50 lb during a shift of up to 12 hours.
• Full uniform and clean appearance required.

Required skills

• Proficient use of kitchen equipment (knives, ovens, mixers, etc.).
• Knowledge of soups, stocks, sauces and basic protein fabrication.
• Skilled in sautéing, culling, broiling, poaching, boiling, steaming and braising.
• Strong knife handling and safety, sanitation, and food‑handling procedures.
