Lead Software Engineer - Middleware

About the role

JPMorgan Chase is seeking a Lead Software Engineer to drive the design, development, and delivery of middleware solutions for its Consumer Banking division. You will be a core technical contributor within an agile team, responsible for building secure, stable, and scalable products that support the firm’s business objectives.

Key responsibilities

• Design and implement creative software solutions, tackling complex technical problems beyond routine approaches.
• Write secure, high‑quality production code and review/debug code contributed by peers.
• Identify and automate remediation of recurring issues to improve operational stability.
• Lead evaluation sessions with vendors, startups, and internal teams to assess architectural designs and technical fit.
• Champion AI‑assisted engineering practices—such as AI‑driven code review, refactoring, test acceleration, and incident analysis—while enforcing validation standards for security and performance.
• Leverage SDLC toolchain capabilities, including enterprise‑approved AI automation, to enhance development efficiency.

Required profile

• 5+ years of middleware software development experience.
• Proven ability to deliver system design, application development, testing, and operational stability for production services.
• Hands‑on experience with at least one major programming language and CI/CD automation.
• Demonstrated leadership in using AI‑assisted development tools and setting validation expectations.
• Strong understanding of responsible AI use, data sensitivity, and secure coding practices.
• Experience in financial services or large‑scale enterprise environments is a plus.
