Lead PCB Designer – Space & Defense Technology

About the role

We are a fast‑paced startup building high‑consequence hardware for space and defense. As Lead PCB Designer you will own the full PCB lifecycle, delivering manufacturing‑ready KiCad projects that meet strict mechanical and electrical constraints.

Key responsibilities

• Translate raw circuit requirements into schematics, layout, and clean manufacturing files.
• Design high‑voltage boards (5 kV‑20 kV+) with proper creepage, clearance and arcing mitigation.
• Apply high‑speed/RF practices such as impedance matching and signal‑integrity for pulsed‑power systems.
• Manage fab and assembly handoff, resolve DFM issues and coordinate with board houses.
• Lead hardware debugging, prototype soldering and bench validation.

Required profile

• Autonomous and proactive, able to adapt designs when components or constraints change.
• Advanced KiCad proficiency with verifiable experience on complex multi‑layer rigid and flex/rigid‑flex boards.
• Strong physics and safety focus for high‑voltage and pulsed‑power environments.
• Hands‑on lab skills, comfortable with advanced soldering (SMD, 0402, QFN) and using oscilloscopes and logic analyzers.

Required skills

• KiCad (schematic capture, layout, multi‑layer design).
• High‑voltage PCB layout, creepage/clearance calculations.
• High‑speed/RF design, impedance matching, signal integrity.
• Advanced soldering techniques (SMD, 0402, QFN).
• Oscilloscope and logic analyzer operation.
