Lead Embedded Software Networking Engineer (Hybrid, San Diego)

About the role

A2e Technologies is hiring a Lead Embedded Software Networking Engineer for a long-term contract or permanent position, based in the Rancho Bernardo area of San Diego on a hybrid basis. The role starts as soon as possible and requires US citizenship.

Key responsibilities

• Design, implement and optimize software for custom network switches using high-performance packet processors.
• Develop and integrate Layer 2 protocols such as VLAN, PTP, RDMA, auto/manual port speed, packet forwarding, port mirroring, jumbo frame support and MACsec.
• Implement Layer 3/4 protocols including packet forwarding, IGMP, ICMP, ARP, NAT, IPv4 and DHCP server.

Required profile

• At least 8 years of experience in software development for networking equipment.
• Extensive experience managing, developing and implementing L2 and L3/L4 networking protocols, with a strong background in network security protocols.
• Experience with Marvell packet processors and the Prestera switch family preferred.

Required skills

• Advanced C/C++ and scripting languages such as Python.
• Deep understanding of network protocols and standards (IEEE, IETF).
• Embedded Linux development.
• Familiarity with hardware interfaces, drivers and JTAG.
• Knowledge of timing protocols such as PTP and synchronization techniques.
• Experience with secure boot processes (CNSSP 15).
