Lead Dosimetrist

About the role

The Radiation Oncology Department at UHealth/University of Miami is seeking a Lead Dosimetrist to coordinate daily dosimetry operations, ensure high‑quality patient care, and support clinical excellence in a multi‑modality cancer treatment center.

Key responsibilities

• Design treatment plans with optimal beam geometry and create reference images for portal verification.
• Identify and contour normal and dose‑limiting structures using multimodal imaging datasets.
• Plan and fabricate compensation filters, custom shields, wedges, and other beam‑modifying devices.
• Produce immobilization devices, molds, and casts, and advise the radiation oncology team on their proper use.
• Perform dose calculations, document patient records, and verify mathematical accuracy.
• Operate and conduct quality assurance on treatment‑planning computers.
• Coordinate and assign patient planning cases to dosimetrists, and mentor students, residents, and other learners.
• Contribute to policy creation, budget administration, and adherence to departmental and regulatory standards.

Required profile

• Associate’s degree in a relevant field.
• Certification (or eligibility) by the Medical Dosimetrist Certification Board.
• Minimum three years of relevant dosimetry experience.
• Demonstrated learning agility, teamwork, and strong written and verbal communication skills.

Required skills

• Proficiency with treatment‑planning software and dosimetry computer applications.
• Technical proficiency in office software and relevant computer tools.
