Lead Banquet General Kitchen Worker

About the role

The Greenbrier Hotel in White Sulphur Springs is hiring a Lead Banquet General Kitchen Worker within the Chief Steward department. The role combines the normal duties of a banquet general kitchen worker with leadership responsibilities such as training new team members, coordinating with the banquet chef and service team, and keeping banquet equipment and service areas clean and safe.

Key responsibilities

• Perform the normal duties of a Banquet General Kitchen Worker and assist in training new team members.
• Work closely with the Banquet chef and the Banquet service team throughout each shift.
• Direct fellow stewards when needed so that department and company standards are met or exceeded.
• Help set up future functions for upcoming shifts and oversee the organization and cleanliness of banquet equipment such as risers, chaffers, hot boxes, kitchen trucks and their storage spaces.
• Keep all banquet service areas clean and promote safety and sanitation in all work areas.
• Promote guest service and a positive guest experience.
• Perform general kitchen duties when needed, including ware washing, pot washing, silver polishing and yard responsibilities.

Required profile

• Commercial food service experience and banquet stewarding experience in a similar role.
• High school diploma or GED preferred.
• Able to read and communicate well, interact with guests and co-workers, and follow directions.
• Understanding of banquet event order sheets and how they are read.
• Valid driver's license; Class D license preferred.
• Flexible schedule: able to work all shifts, including weekends and holidays, with overtime when required.

Required skills

• Ability to identify different types of china and service equipment.
• Reading and interpreting banquet event order sheets.
