Barista - Gourmet Shop

About the role

The Greenbrier Hotel is hiring a Barista for its Retail (Gourmet Shop) department in White Sulphur Springs. The role covers guest interaction, ordering, cleaning and clerical duties at the coffee bar, with shifts that vary according to business volume.

Key responsibilities

• Follow the Standard Operating Procedures for the Barista position and acknowledge every guest warmly and welcomingly.
• Learn to upsell products at the Coffee Bar and become fully knowledgeable of coffee counter procedures and recipes.
• Stock coffee bar supplies, food items, drinks and the stock room.
• Complete orders and pick them up from the food storeroom, pastry shop, beverage control and main kitchen each day.
• Keep the bar area, pastry case and floor clean.
• Operate and understand the Point of Sale system, and know how to open and close the coffee bar.
• Work at a fast pace, in a small space with co-workers, and provide excellent service to guests, members and internal customers.

Required profile

• Two years of guest service experience; previous barista experience preferred.
• High school diploma.
• Fluent reading and writing of English, with a friendly, positive and professional manner.
• Must obtain a West Virginia Food Handler's Permit.
• Ability to anticipate guest needs, work well in a team and in small confined spaces, and follow the Greenbrier dress code.

Required skills

• Point of Sale system.
• Operating espresso machine, smoothie blender, grinders and coffee machines.
• Shift hours: shop open 7am to 9pm; barista shifts vary, e.g. 6am to 2pm, 8am to 4pm, 2pm to 9:15pm.
