Lactation Consultant – Evening Shift

About the role

The Cleveland Clinic Children’s Breastfeeding Medicine Clinic at Fairview Hospital seeks a Lactation Consultant to provide comprehensive breastfeeding support to families across inpatient, NICU, and outpatient settings. This position works evening shifts and collaborates with multidisciplinary teams to improve lactation outcomes.

Key responsibilities

• Provide direct lactation care and education to breastfeeding mothers and infants.
• Perform initial and ongoing assessments of mother‑baby dyads and develop evidence‑based feeding plans.
• Design and deliver patient education, staff development, and community outreach programs.
• Support NICU, postpartum, and outpatient services with expert lactation guidance.
• Maintain up‑to‑date knowledge of lactation research and best practices.

Required profile

• Meet educational/licensing requirements for the International Board of Lactation Consultant Examiners (IBLCE).
• Basic Life Support (BLS) certification.
• Neonatal Resuscitation Program (NRP) certification within six months of hire.
• Certified Lactation Counselor (CLC) certification or equivalent upon hire, with IBCLC certification within 24 months.
• Registered Nurse (RN) license preferred, with at least one year of relevant experience.
