About the role

The Lab Technician II works in the Robert J. Tomsich Pathology & Laboratory Medicine Institute at Cleveland Clinic Hillcrest Hospital, processing a high volume of specimens and supporting patient care.

Key responsibilities

  • Receive and accession laboratory specimens into the LIS.
  • Retrieve, sort, track, and deliver specimens.
  • Investigate and resolve specimen issues.
  • Prepare specimens for analysis, including centrifugation and aliquoting.
  • Maintain accurate documentation and data in laboratory computer systems.

Required profile

  • High school diploma or GED.
  • At least one year of laboratory experience (or associate's degree in science as a substitute).
  • Ability to lift/move up to 50 lbs and work in a stationary position for extended periods.
  • Ability to handle biohazardous materials safely.

Required skills

  • Specimen accession and handling.
  • Use of Laboratory Information System (LIS).
  • Centrifuge operation and routine maintenance.
  • Aliquoting techniques.
