Lab Team Leader – Microbiology

About the role

The Cleveland Clinic Main Campus seeks a Lab Team Leader for its Clinical Microbiology department. This night‑shift position (11 pm‑7 am) provides day‑to‑day supervision of laboratory operations, ensuring efficient, safe, and compliant testing.

Key responsibilities

• Supervise laboratory staff and oversee daily workflow for microbiology testing.
• Resolve technical problems according to policies set by the Laboratory Director or Technical Supervisor.
• Monitor analytic performance, maintain competency documentation, and report issues immediately.
• Perform testing duties as needed and ensure compliance with regulatory standards.
• Assist with capital equipment monitoring, staffing standards, procedure maintenance, and contingency planning.
• Maintain quality‑assurance programs, control testing schedules, and communicate results to relevant departments.

Required profile

• Bachelor’s degree in Clinical Laboratory Science, Medical Technology, or related field.
• 3–5 years of high‑complexity clinical laboratory experience, preferably in microbiology.
• 2 years of leadership experience in a clinical laboratory setting.
• ASCP certification (MT) or eligibility.

• Regulatory knowledge (CLIA, CAP) and documentation.
