Lab Information Specialist

About the role

Cabinet Peaks Medical Center is seeking a Laboratory Information Specialist to join its Laboratory department. Under the direction of the Manager, you will coordinate development, implementation, maintenance, and enhancements of the Laboratory Information System (LIS) and related IT functions.

Key responsibilities

• Develop, implement, maintain, and enhance LIS applications.
• Provide training, consultation, and problem‑solving assistance to laboratory staff.
• Communicate LIS changes and maintain detailed documentation of activities, upgrades, and resolutions.
• Act as liaison between the laboratory and IT department, and assist with charge rejections, billing issues, and third‑party lab interactions.

Required profile

• 3‑5 years of experience in a clinical laboratory setting.
• Licensure by the Montana State Board of Clinical Laboratory personnel as a medical laboratory technologist.
• Associate’s degree in Clinical Laboratory Science or a related chemical/biological science.
• Successful licensure by a national accrediting agency such as NCA, AAB, or ASCP.

Required skills

• Proficiency with Laboratory Information System (LIS) applications.
• Strong knowledge of Microsoft Office Suite.
