Central Sterile Technician I – Variable Shifts

About the role

The Central Sterile Technician I supports patient safety by processing, sterilizing, and delivering surgical instruments and supplies for orthopedic procedures at Hospital for Special Surgery. This full‑time, variable‑shift position ensures that all sterile items are ready, clean, and on‑time for the operating rooms.

Key responsibilities

• Decontaminate, inspect, assemble, package, and sterilize reusable surgical instruments using washers, sterilizers, dryers, and heat sealers.
• Log and track implants and loaner instrument sets, ensuring accurate documentation.
• Prepare and restock disposable medical supplies for peri‑operative areas via surgical case carts.
• Maintain compliance with regulatory standards and internal quality protocols.

Required profile

• High School Diploma or equivalent.
• Minimum one year of experience in sterile processing.
• Successful completion of a Central Processing Technician course.
• CRCST certification (required).
• Strong written and verbal communication skills.
