Kurdish Linguist

About the role

Leidos is seeking a Kurdish Linguist to support national security work, providing professional linguistic support across translation, interpretation, transcription and gisting. The position requires a TS/SCI clearance with polygraph, which must be fully adjudicated before work begins.

Key responsibilities

• Translate materials from Kurdish into English and vice versa, capturing nuances, cultural and geopolitical references and using subject-matter-consistent terminology.
• Provide consecutive interpretation; simultaneous interpretation may occasionally be required.
• Transcribe audio or internet-based content and produce high-quality English reports.
• Gist and summarize key facts and critical information from large datasets, using reference materials.

Required profile

• BA/BS or equivalent formal military training and 4-8 years of relevant experience, or a Master's degree with 2-6 years of experience; additional experience may substitute for a degree.
• A translation and/or interpretation degree is highly desired.
• Must pass a Leidos-administered language proficiency test at Primary level or higher, and a medical laboratory and/or physical screen and weapons training as required by the program.
• Travel OCONUS is required, with 24/7 contract support while traveling.

Required skills

• Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite and basic online research.
• Preferred: HLT experience, familiarity with the U.S. Intelligence Community, military or law enforcement environments, ability to brief stakeholders, and proficiency in multiple languages.

Pay range: $73,450 - $132,775.
